Weather: 🌞🌞🌞 Grill: 🔥🔥🔥 @WeberGrills "smart" meat-thermometer: 💩 Pay extra attention to the lack of a "later" option, because of course this software update is more important than your grilling @internetofshit

The decentralised and redundant Internet, designed to survive a nuclear war* has become reliant on a few central points. I wonder how much of will be lost when those giants are gone. @mikko/1415927176965337088

we could all have computers which did everything instantly and loaded every webpage in a blink of an eye but we choose not to @nikitonsky/1425207773193723906

Good show as usual from @HelSecurity, great talks. Especially @myrcurial ‘s If you are working in security but feel like your job is uphill trough a snowstorm both ways, watch his talk. And even if you don’t, watch it still. m.youtube.com/watch?v=qESh8DfYu-o @myrcurial/1339883847253692417

Also @kaitlyn_devalk et. al. has done some great research on this security-information-workers.org/downloads/Industry%20perspectives.pdf

@thorsheim @amelsec The "companion" @sakpodcasten episodes with part of the cast explains a lot of why they did as they did overcast.fm/+9U-w9eM0 overcast.fm/+9U8VMXyc

Had a blast joining the first virtual @HelSecurity meet-up, the twitch/discord setup worked really well. I found @timiett1′s talk on iPhone security especially interesting youtu.be/aW5i5eByR_w?t=1h19m34s @HelSecurity/1258703134421061635

This is a good initiative, the webpage only seems to be available in Swedish and Finnish but the application for the mark is in English tietoturvamerkki.fi/files/compliance-statement.pdf Heavily references the ETSI 103 654 standard, at first glance it seems short enough and focuses on the right things. @mikko/1199246787263041536

I really enjoy reading industry specific news sites every now and then, they are always full of interesting facts and news which don’t make it into the daily news. Did you know about EVE energy and the fact that there are 100′s of electric river ferries? splash247.com/new-shanghai-owner-plans-to-build-18-electric-powered-bulkers/

nice twist on heartbleed, clients are also vulnerable, obvious in retrospect blog.meldium.com/home/2014/4/10/testing-for-reverse-heartbleed

This is going to be popping up on more printers if people update them to fix what @TimoHirvonen and @dark_k3y found. I did the mistake of updating a printer once, fixed zero of the issues but started rejecting the 3rd party cartridge which was working fine before the update :-/ @p0welly/1465717891370676225

I've watched many talks by @mikko during the last 10+ years, and still, every time I watch a new one I learn something new Today, security tetris and some tips on how to explain a big security expenditure And just overall great ideas how to explain security to non infosec @WEDF_forum/1420353580154904576

This lovely coin from @HelSecurity gave me flashbacks to my POG collecting days.. Thanks! @JuhoJauhiainen, @H4mNo and everyone else working for HelSec en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milk_caps_(game)

.@troyhunt .com has the best favicon I've seen in a while reminds me of a time when the internet wasn't so commercial

Tried Nebula after the intro from @jrssnet on @techsnapsystems. I’m impressed. It’s like your own encrypted internet for all your devices. Still very rough edges, which I understand is intentional, but I think it will go far. arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/12/how-to-set-up-your-own-nebula-mesh-vpn-step-by-step/

@heydonworks Nice performance Works well to demo a side project/PoC of mine which leverages the ability to disable JS inside a iframe noscript.it/#https://heydonworks.com/

While reading the chapter on codes in "If it's secure it's vulnerable" by @mikko I started thinking about this again. Would the whole chapter fit inside a QR code with ALPHANUMERIC? This became quite a rabbit hole... @gnyman/1561821886316773376

@mikko Murphy's law corollary #413 "if it's smart it will refuse to work until updated at the worst possible time" @gnyman/1528340539698978816

@WeberGrills @internetofshit Hi all, hope you are well, take care and try to be a good person ☮️♻️❤️ To be clear, I knew what I was getting myself into when I bought it (I follow @internetofshit after all). But bad UX should still be called out, the fix is easy, just add a later button @WeberGrills

Who writes the version history for @SlackHQ ? It’s a joy to read. I feel a bit bad that they write better version update notes than I write blog posts but I read them and try to learn from them. Maybe @ryanhuber still knows? so I can give my compliments.

This episode from @DarknetDiaries about opsec (failure), darkmarkets and fentanyl was really good. Jack does a really good job explaining things in a understandable way and backs things up with a thorough journalistic job darknetdiaries.com/episode/58/
