  1. This thread hits too close to home. I've learnt to think really really hard about what (if any) risks there are with just letting that piece of software stay untouched. Rarely will upgrading it make things better right now or in the future. @patio11/1472434084664074241

      The one reason to upgrade is usually if there is a security vulnerability which can't be mitigated in any other way. If the software worked fine for N years the ROI on upgrading it is probably negative vs just rewriting it.
