      1. Another interesting 13 year old blog post from @taosecurity feels like it could have been written yesterday. taosecurity.blogspot.com/2007/03/taking-fight-to-enemy.html Made me think about how cybercrime is different, most other criminal activity requires some degree of physical presence.

      But cybercrime can be committed from anywhere, in some cases with the blessing or at least blind eye from local authorities. I can't think of any historical precedence for this. I first thought of Privateers, but they risked very physical harm.

    Is deterrence even possible in the cyber world? Currently the risk for most seems to be getting doxed/indicted, and even that is rare. wired.com/story/doj-indicts-hackers-samsam-ransomware/
