  1. Deduplicating backups like @borgbackup, hashbackup, @resticbackup etc saves you lots of space and is totally great... Until you have bitrot and you only have one copy of the file. Multiple copies of your backups is important, I use 3-2-1 backblaze.com/blog/the-3-2-1-backup-strategy/ 1/n

      All three projects make it easy to do offsite also and Borg states in their FAQ that they don't support this (for Restic I just found a github issue), but still it didn't click for me until I was migrating my backups and saw the same file error from each backup. 2/n

        For Mac users one 3-2-1 solution is TimeMachine + @backblaze. I've been happy Backblaze user for many years and also use B2 at work. For long term archiving I'm migrating to borg on multiple disks which exposed the deduplication issue 3/n Referral secure.backblaze.com/r/00onca
